Insley & Nash are creators of bespoke, luxury textiles and materials. With a strong focus on craftsmanship, the studio combines traditional and innovative fabric screen printing and dyeing techniques to create luxurious materials for couture catwalk shows, international exhibitions and exclusive interiors. Well known within the design industry, Insley & Nash are now launching their own collection of hand printed decorative pillows.

Gavin Insley and Mika Nash met at Ravensbourne in the UK, where they studied fashion. Both chose to focus on the technical side of printing after graduating and set up their eponymous studio in London in 2010. Since then, Gavin and Mika have specialised in flat-bed screen printing in small quantities, often using special techniques such as foil printing and devoré.

Screen printing at its most simple is creating a stencil, to which colour is applied, and has been around for millennia. But Gavin and Mika’s creative designs and encyclopaedic knowledge of textiles and printing techniques constantly push them to take an innovative and inspired approach to an age-old craft. Their unique design process relies very much on the tactile nature of the screen printing craft. This means that design decisions and development are made during the printing process itself, bringing real depth and character to everything that Gavin and Mika produce.

Insley & Nash’s work is highly skilled, labour-intensive and produced to extremely high standards. Well known within the fashion and design industry, they make beautiful and luxurious fabrics for couture catwalk shows, international exhibitions, exclusive interiors, film and TV.  It is extremely exciting for our customers now to be able to order directly from such a talented studio.

Wright & Smith are very proud to be bringing Insley & Nash’s Doubloon collection of hand screen printed decorative pillows to our customers. Inspired by mysterious voyages to unknown lands and untold treasures waiting to be found, this collection is their first interiors offering.  Named after a precious Spanish gold coin, the Doubloon collection has been created with influences of renaissance art and literature.  Textured brush strokes evoke a sense of opulence and adventure, adding a modern flourish to ideals of proportion, balance and beauty.

“Beautiful things are created through hard work and dedicated craftsmanship and we wanted these elements to shine and provide a jewel or modern relic for the home with this collection… The hand crafted process means that each detail is considered and laboured over.  To us this is the essence of luxury.”

Further reason to welcome Insley & Nash to the Wright & Smith community is for their bespoke commission capabilities.
